Firm Overview

The origins of Kerwin and Kerwin date back to 1945, when the late Patrick E. Kerwin, the son of a coal miner, opened a law office in Lykens, Pennsylvania, followed by a second office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The firm has continued to grow since 1945, but has remained a family law firm dedicated to the practice of law and the principle that all legal services should be rendered professionally and courteously.

Our law firm maintains two offices for the convenience of our clients and utilizes state of the art equipment in order to carry out our goal of prompt and high quality legal service. In the late summer of 2002, Kerwin and Kerwin will have completed a renovation and construction project which doubles the size of its Elizabethville Law Office. The remodeling and expansion of the Elizabethville Office with the installation of state-of-the-art equipment connected to the Harrisburg Office permits the law firm to use sophisticated technology to serve its clients in an efficient, prompt and courteous manner.

Our experience of over a half-century in estate administration enables Kerwin and Kerwin to provide guidance which gives executors and administrators the ability to close estates promptly without any unreasonable delay.

Small Businesses - our firm has and continues to represent many small businesses, which are often individually or family owned. The representation of business includes, but is not limited to, the preparation of documents to form sole proprietorships, subchapter "S" corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships.

Municipal Clients - For over five decades, our firm has represented numerous boroughs, townships, and authorities. The firm has developed expertise in various aspects of municipal law. Our experience with municipalities complements our real estate practice.

Personal Injury, Worker's Compensation and Social Security Disability - The lawyers in our firm pride themselves in being professional, courteous, and easy to talk to in times of emotional distress. These attributes are very important to those individuals who have sustained physical and monetary losses as the result of an injury caused by the negligence of another individual. In these types of cases, Kerwin and Kerwin affiliates with well known trial attorneys at no additional expense to the client. This type of arrangement has worked well for Kerwin and Kerwin's clients, as the clients have a local attorney who they know and who is very accessible and yet they also have the expertise of well known trial attorneys.

Adoptions - For the past 20 years, our firm, through an affiliation with an agency and through its own clients, has handled hundreds of adoption related proceedings. The adoption practice is one of the most gratifying practices of law from both the attorney's standpoint and the Court's standpoint. The expertise in this field of law is extensive.
